Building Bat Conservation and Management's Bat Houses

Before starting your project
The following sections detail how to assemble a quality bat house kit from Bat Conservation and Management. We have made box assembly as simple as possible by supplying all kit materials pre-cut. Over the years we have found that bats place extremely strict requirements on a potential roost, and so we recommend that these construction details be closely followed. Before starting your project, have the tools and materials available which are needed to complete the kit. Read each instruction completely and test fit parts before assembly. Expect to spend one or two hours building, painting, and finishing your project. After the box is complete it will still need to be placed properly. A poorly placed bat box will never attract bats, no matter how well built the box may be. [more on proper placement] If all construction details are adhered to, and the box receives enough sunlight in good habitat, our design has a better than 95% chance for occupancy and usually within the first summer.
