Because of their large size, easy access, and relatively safe passages, certain caves have had their share of visitation by people who disregard all safety and conservation concerns. This has resulted in many caves being gated to control visitation or even bulldozed over. Organizations have started acquiring cave sites in hopes to protect lesser known major systems.
