Steel shell + high capacity =
The best bat house ever produced.
Professionally recommended

Our Seven-Chamber Steel Bat House is based on the most recent recommendations from the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The PGC had begun noting a number of bat houses were failing around the roof due to a combination of age, weathering, and inadequate maintenance. Eliminating as much wood from the exterior as possible, and doing so as inexpensively as possible has been the ongoing goal to counter these affects. BCM, Inc., recognizes the need for affordable, long term, low-maintenance bat houses and addresses this with the Seven-Chamber Steel Bat House.

A Bat House Built to Outlast its Post
Built from the ground up to never separate, never delaminate, and possibly never need to be re-coated, this bat house is ideal where regular maintenance may be infrequent, inconvenient, or dangerous. The super-duty exterior houses a rectangular baffle cluster with seven chambers. Over 100" of linear crevices provides roost space for 210 Myotis-sized bats.

The shell is composed of a combination of steel and plywood, then end-user painted with either rust-resistant paint or readily available spray-on, truck-bed liner. This bat house should remain airtight and serviceable many times longer than even the best protected wooden bat house. The interior baffles are still traditional yellow pine plywood to add mass and thereby retain heat. Our bat houses never need cleaning as the droppings simply fall to the ground.

Each baffle is individually hand scratched and features a pass-thru at the top allowing bats to easily change crevices. This special ÒatticÓ area allows bats to roost against the top of the roof. Baffles form standard 3/4" crevices, suitable for little brown, Indiana, big brown, and many other bat species across North America. Baffles are predicted to last over 20 years. These baffles are permenantly hand scratched for bats to "get a grip". We DO NOT use screen materal for beffles as it has been shown to shred over time and pups have been documented becoming trapped under it.

Simple, Built-in Mounting Bracket
Compared to most other bat house designs, mounting our Seven-Chamber Bat House is truly dream come true. Simply attach the mounting brackets to a post or a structure, then hang the bat house on the brackets. Seven-Chamber Bat Houses are designed to be incredibly modular. Four can be installed at the top of a single 4ÕÕx6ÕÕx18Õ post for high capacity in a small area. Four Seven-Chamber Bat Houses have a potential capacity of over 840 bats.

The Seven Chamber Steel bat house sports easy welded steel mounting brackets and built in carry handles, making work a snap.
To install a Seven Chamber bat house:

¥ Spray 1 coat of Rust-oleum primer on the steel exterior of the bat house. Apply 3 or more coats of exterior paint or stain to the wooden exterior of the bat house. All bat houses need painted on site after shipping and installation for best finish. Postal regulations prevent us from including paint with your order.

¥ Select mounting location and install two lag bolts thru the upper mounting lip into your 4''x6''x16'' post (lag bolts for mounting into wood included, site tips are included in the manual)

¥ Drill 1/4'' holes thru the landing plate and into your post. Drive remaining lag bolts thru the landing plate and into the post.

¥ Coat the metal portion of the bat house and brackets with either Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating ($7.99) or Rust-oleum paint products available at any Wal-Mart or auto parts store!
