Five Chamber
Bat House

Our five chamber bat houses are based on the Pennsylvania Game Commission's most successful design.

Large capacity, thick exterior, and managable size combine to make this the choice of agencies with long term conservation goals.

Our preassembled Five Chamber bat house saves construction time
Bigger is better, bats just prefer larger structures, but our Five Chamber Bat House is still managable by homeowners. We have beefed up the exterior twice the original PGC specs using 1.5'' thick load bearing sides and a super duty 0.75'' thick backing. All plywood is made from yellow pine that has proven to resist bat induced deterioration in the long term. We have assembled all the critical elements of the box including the roof and the interior crevices, all seams glued and sealed. No drilling or screw driving is required. Each interior surface has been permenantly roughened by hand in various directions for the best "batholds" possible. This box should be painted appropriately for your area, generally plan on black or a shade of brown. Minimal caulking is recommended to finish the roof, then screening should be stapled to the landing plate. Both white and black roofing paper is supplied upon request (see color chart for your area). Includes 16-page manual with complete finishing, site determination, installation, and maintenance instructions. Approved by Bat Conservation International. Invented and built in Pennsylvania. Includes 16-page manual with placement and maintenance instructions. A pole mount must be used with this box if mounting to a 4''x4'' or 4''x 6'' post.

How to finish this bat house:
1. Paint or stain a color according to your climate (see manual). Use 3 or more coats.
2. Staple the included screen onto the bat house landing plate.
3. Use the included sealant to caulk around the roof, then staple on the roofing shingle.
4. Screw the bat house to the pole mount or structure.
5. Use the remaining sealant to coat the upper mounting lip of the bat house as well as the staples holding the shingle on.
