"A much different twilight zone, for sure. Sometimes cave entrances are modified to prevent them from collapsing, but usually they are piped like this to control who goes in them. In this way both the cave and irresponsible people are protected from each other. Unfortunately vandals persevered at this site and the cave remains open to anyone with enough courage to squeeze through this pipe and the other just beyond."

"Cove Run Cave was supposed to be a huge network maze probably a mile long. Unfortunately the road crew came by and installed a new culvert in the entrance to "improve" the road. Except they placed the culvert too high and now sediment and water has filled the cave entrance so that today only a few inches of airspace remain. While this effectively prevents vandalism, it is also simultaneously a loss of bat habitat."
