Roost 1.2 at West Park was found and documented this afternoon. While not a bad spot, we have the feeling this is just a stopover to Ibat 1.

By 8:16 we were right. The bat crossed the river and was upstream of a marina we observed from. Anticipating this move, all three receivers were already waiting for it.

At 8:20 I had the signal east of Hyde Park. The signal was lost as everyone scrambled east.

At 8:48 I picked up the bat again southeast of Netherwood. The bat was likely moving over the mountain east. The bats was not received again, however this critical second contact is enough to project the bat's route into Connecticut.

A massive ground search involving now four receiver units scoured different routes to Dover Plains, New Milford, Route 3 and such north and east of Dover Plains, and to Litchfield and almost Waterbury.

Confident that the bat will continue it's southeasterly track and hole up in CT, bat #1 now becomes a bat in the bank with plenty of battery power left. Since covering CT via airplane is not a problem, we will turn our efforts to trapping and transmittering the next bat, and see what happens next.

Left: Roost 1.2 in West Park, NY. With a riverfront view, swampy stream infeeder, and a lovely exfoliating bark, who would leave?
