An extensive search was made for Ibat#4. Since the bat seemed to be in no particular hurry to abandon the New Paltz area, and roosted twice already during the night, we were confident we would recover the bat only 20 miles or less from the area of last contact. A good chunk of NY countryside was scanned, including part of New Jersey. A total of roughly 840 square miles was scanned, from New Paltz south to the Tappan Zee Bridge. The west boundary was I87 and Shumunk (sp.?) Mountain. The east border was the Taconic Parkway, though close to New York City this boundary was more indistinct.

The signal was not recovered. It's likely the bat remained on the west side of the river and may have taken a route south similar to Ibat #2.
