continuous exposure of hibernacula to high levels
09/07/11 at 12:04:55

Doing research on recent development of ILFN (infrasonic low frequency noise) problems in western CT started over 2 years ago.  I have a question which I've communicated with the CTDEEP and NYDEC may have merit, but is not studied.  I am not a biologist so I come at this from an engineering perspective and living with the effects of this HUM in our home in CT.
What would continuous exposure to high levels of seismic like low frequency sound waves have on the bat hibernation cycle.  A minority of the population actually hears it.  Considering perch? vibration and high levels of chamber noise at frequencies below 50 hz.  In particular 40, 31 and 16 hz would this awake the bats causing them to flee to the outside in the winter? losing bat fat, reducing immune systems and becoming susceptible to disease?
I believe this ties into the start in Howe and Halies caves in NY.  The hypothesis works all but in parts of Vermont and NH.  A mapping by county of all states with WNS reported is very suggestive that buried high pressure natural gas lines have changed or been installed in in affected counties of WNS
I can post the map if any interest

Regards
Steve
